Selectmen's Minutes - March 26, 1991
March 26, 1991     Present:  William P. Dynan, Chairman
                            Judith A. Murdoch
                            Pamela A. Fasci
                            Robert M. Crowley - 8:00 p.m.

Meeting began at 7:45 p.m.

Held pole hearing on request of Eastern Edison for one joint pole location on Baker Street.  After much discussion and input from the abutters, it was jointly decided that pole could be placed across the street from where it was originally proposed.  Board voted on motion from Mrs. Murdoch, 2nd Fasci to locate the pole at the discretion of Eastern Edison across the street from where originally proposed.  

Donald Ferguson discussed problems that the Hanson Democratic Town Committee is having obtaining election workers.  Many of the usual workers have relatives that are running for office and cannot perform their usual duties.

Voted at 8:00 p.m. to close the warrant for the May Annual Town Meeting.

Recreation Commission meeting with Board rescheduled for next week.

Conservation Commission met with Board to discuss past tree cutting case.  Board felt it was inappropriate to pursue elderly on a case which many not produce money.

Voted 4-0, motion by Crowley, 2nd Fasci, to set polling hours for the May 18 Annual Town Election for the hours of 10 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Mrs. Fasci moved, 2nd Murdoch to appoint Rachel Clark as Registrar of Voters.  4-0.

Mrs. Fasci moved, 2nd Crowley, to appoint Robert Arsenault as Veterans Agent, Veterans Graves Officer, Director of Veterans Services.  4-0.

Passed over dog hearing on report of dog bite.

Held off on discussion of override for school boiler.

Noted appointment of Dog Officer will be held on April 16.

Read letter from Board of Assessors releasing $75,813 from Overlay Surplus.

Mrs. Murdoch moved, 2nd Fasci, 3-1 vote(Mr. Crowley opposed), for acceptance of a three year contract with Thevinan and Company, with each year renewable.

Mr. Crowley has agreed to serve on the Regional School Study Committee.

Noted that for the Town Report cover next year something should be done to honor the Veterans of Desert Storm.  Paul Nawazelski will be contacted.

Discussion held on articles submitted by the Water Dept.  The Board refused two and set two aside for the Special Town Meeting.
